How The Smart Cat Society Began: From One Extraordinary Cat to a Complete Feline Training Vision

The Smart Cat Society began with one extraordinary cat—Sir Dobby. Brilliant, bold, and endlessly curious, he showed a natural ability for learning far beyond the everyday companion cat. What began as simple enrichment quickly grew into advanced trick training, confidence-building exercises, and eventually skateboard routines that caught the attention of film and media professionals.

As Dobby’s skills developed, he was joined by Popcorn and later Pickle, each bringing unique talents and personality to the team. Together, they became the heart of our feline performance group—cats now confidently working in movies, adverts, commercial photography, expos, and live stage demonstrations, and available for professional hire. Their work demonstrated what cats can achieve when trained through trust, clarity, and positive reinforcement.

The Smart Cat Society is grounded in behavioural science. Supported by a Biological Science Degree and a 2025 Certification in Cat Psychology and Training, and 2026 Advanced Track Diploma in Feline Behaviour Science and Technology from CASI. Our methods combine academic understanding with hands-on training expertise.

Every interaction is guided by learning theory, emotional welfare, and species-specific behaviour, ensuring safe, ethical, and effective results for both performance cats and companion animals.

As Dobby, Popcorn, and Pickle travelled for expos, shows, and filming, owners consistently asked similar questions:

These conversations revealed a need for accessible, professional education. The Smart Cat Society was created to fill that gap by offering behaviour consults, trick-training programs, kitten development guidance, exposure training, and confidence-based behaviour support tailored to each cat and household.
